Optional AI Research Participation: Users may choose whether to contribute anonymized data to help improve AI technology. This participation is completely optional and users can utilize Saydo fully without participating in AI research. Participation preferences can be changed at any time through Settings.

Privacy Statement: Saydo maintains transparency regarding data collection practices. We collect user data to provide our AI-powered thought organization service. Additionally, users may optionally choose to participate in AI research through anonymized data contributions to advance technology development. Participation is entirely optional and may be modified at any time.

1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Saydo ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, processes, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Saydo is an AI-powered mobile application that helps users organize their thoughts through voice recordings, automatic transcription, and intelligent categorization. With explicit user consent, anonymized data may contribute to AI research and development to advance machine learning models.

Key Principle: We maintain principles of user choice and transparent data practices. Users have complete control over whether their data contributes to AI model improvement and accuracy. This choice is optional, easily modified, and does not affect the ability to use core features.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

Account Information: Email address, chosen display name, and authentication credentials
Voice Recordings: Audio recordings of user thoughts (up to 5 minutes per recording) - used for transcription and, with user consent, AI training
Thought Content: Text transcriptions, categories, and manual edits - used for service provision and, with user consent, AI training
Custom Categories: Personal categories created for organizing thoughts - used to personalize user experience and, with permission, improve AI categorization systems
AI Research Consent: User choice regarding participation in AI research - stored securely and modifiable at any time
Feedback: Bug reports, feature requests, and communications with support team
Payment Information: Billing details processed by payment providers (Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Stripe)

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data: App interactions, feature usage, session duration, and timestamps - used to improve the application and, with user consent, for AI model training
Device Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, device identifiers
Technical Data: IP address, crash reports, performance metrics, error logs
Analytics Data: Aggregated and anonymized usage patterns to improve service quality

2.3 Information from Third Parties

Authentication Providers: Profile information from Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In (when users choose these services)
Payment Processors: Transaction confirmations and subscription status from app stores

2.4 Google User Data Restrictions

Compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy:

If you choose to sign in with Google or connect your Google Calendar/Tasks, we want to be transparent about how we use your Google user data:

Authentication Only: Google user data (including profile information from Google Sign-In) is used exclusively for authentication and to provide core application functionality
No AI Research: Google user data is NOT used for AI research, model training, or any purpose other than providing or improving the application's functionality
No Third-Party Sharing for Research: Google user data is NOT shared with research partners, AI development organizations, or any third parties for AI research or model training purposes. Google data may be processed through service providers (such as cloud infrastructure) solely for service delivery, in compliance with Google's API Services User Data Policy.
Service Functionality Only: Google user data is used solely to:
- Google Sign-In: Authenticate your account and enable secure sign-in using your Google credentials
- Google Calendar Integration:
  - Read your calendar events to display them in the Saydo app
  - Create calendar events from your voice-recorded thoughts
  - Update existing calendar events when you edit them through voice commands
  - Delete calendar events when you request deletion via voice
  - Sync calendar changes bidirectionally between Saydo and Google Calendar
  - Handle RSVP responses for calendar invitations
  - Manage recurring event instances (edit single occurrences or entire series)
- Google Tasks Integration:
  - Create tasks in Google Tasks from your voice-recorded thoughts
  - Sync tasks between Saydo and Google Tasks
  - Update task status and details
  - Organize tasks into your existing Google Tasks lists
- User Profile Information: Use your email address and profile name to personalize your experience and identify your account
Independent of AI Research Choice: This restriction applies regardless of whether you have opted into AI research participation. Even if you choose to participate in AI research, your Google user data will never be used for that purpose
Data Separation: Google user data is kept separate from other user data that may be used for AI research (with your consent)

This policy ensures full compliance with Google's API Services User Data Policy, which requires that Google user data only be used to provide or improve your application's functionality.

3.1.1 Google Services Integration

How We Use Google Calendar and Google Tasks:

If you choose to connect your Google account, Saydo integrates with Google Calendar and Google Tasks to provide the following features:

Google Calendar Features:

View Your Calendar: Display your existing Google Calendar events within the Saydo app so you can see all your scheduled activities in one place
Create Events from Voice: When you record a thought like "Meeting with John tomorrow at 3pm", Saydo creates that event directly in your Google Calendar
Edit Events via Voice: Use voice commands to modify existing calendar events, such as "Move my 3pm meeting to 4pm" or "Change the location of tomorrow's meeting to the office"
Delete Events: Remove calendar events by voice command, with options to delete a single occurrence or an entire recurring series
Bidirectional Sync: Keep your Saydo app and Google Calendar synchronized - changes made in either location are reflected in both
RSVP Management: Respond to calendar invitations directly from Saydo
Recurring Event Support: Handle recurring events intelligently - edit single instances or entire series as needed

Google Tasks Features:

Create Tasks from Voice: Convert your voice-recorded thoughts into actionable tasks in Google Tasks, such as "Remind me to call Sarah" or "Add buy groceries to my tasks"
Task Synchronization: Keep your tasks synchronized between Saydo and Google Tasks so you can manage them from either platform
Task Organization: Organize tasks into your existing Google Tasks lists and maintain your preferred task structure
Task Updates: Update task details, status, and completion directly from Saydo

Record "Team standup every Monday at 9am" → Creates a recurring calendar event in Google Calendar
Say "Move my dentist appointment to next week" → Updates the event in Google Calendar
Voice command "Cancel today's lunch meeting" → Deletes the specific occurrence from Google Calendar
Record "Don't forget to submit the report by Friday" → Creates a task in Google Tasks with a due date
View all your Google Calendar events alongside your Saydo thoughts in one unified interface

Important: All Google Calendar and Tasks data is used exclusively to provide these integration features. Google data is never used for AI research or model training. Google data may be processed through service providers (such as cloud infrastructure providers) solely for service delivery and in compliance with Google's API Services User Data Policy, but is never shared with research partners or third parties for AI research purposes.

3.2 Optional AI Model Enhancement

Voluntary AI Improvement Participation (Opt-In Only)

Important Restriction: If you signed in with Google, your Google user data (including profile information) is never used for AI research or model training, regardless of your participation choice. Only non-Google user data (voice recordings, transcriptions, thought content) may be used for AI research with your explicit opt-in consent, in compliance with Google's API Services User Data Policy.

4. AI Model Improvement Participation

You're in Control: AI improvement participation is completely optional. You can use all of Saydo's features regardless of your choice. The decision is entirely yours and can be changed anytime.

4.1 How the Choice Works

During Signup: You'll see an optional checkbox to "Help improve AI research" - you can check it or leave it unchecked
No Pressure: You can proceed with account creation regardless of your choice
Settings Control: Change your mind anytime in the app's Settings under "AI Research Participation"
Immediate Effect: Your choice takes effect immediately - no waiting periods

4.2 Voice Recording Process

Recording: Voice recordings are captured locally on your device
Transmission: Audio is encrypted and transmitted securely to our transcription service
AI Training Use: Voice data is only used for AI training if you've opted in
Processing: AI services (OpenAI Whisper and others) convert speech to text
Deletion: Original audio files are deleted from primary servers after processing
Storage: Text transcriptions are stored for your use and, if you've consented, for AI training

4.3 AI Classification and Training

Content Analysis: Text content is analyzed to suggest appropriate categories (always happens for your benefit)
Model Training: Your data is only used to train AI models if you've explicitly opted in
Pattern Recognition: Usage patterns help AI understand human thought organization (only with consent)
Confidence Scoring: AI provides confidence levels for categorization accuracy
Human Override: Your corrections to AI suggestions improve model accuracy (only if you've opted in)

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or license your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Only non-Google user data (voice recordings, transcriptions, thought content) may be shared for research purposes with your explicit opt-in consent.

5.3 Business Transfers

Company Acquisition: In the event that Saydo is acquired by, merged with, or transfers assets to another company:

Personal Data: All user accounts, thoughts, and voice recordings will transfer
AI Research Data: Only anonymized research data from users who opted in will transfer
Consent Status: Your AI research participation choice will be honored by the acquiring company
Your Rights: You maintain the right to delete your account and opt out of AI research before or after any acquisition

Complete Erasure (Email): Removes everything including all research data - no trace left

8. Data Retention and Account Deletion

Three Flexible Options for Managing Your Data

8.1 AI Research Withdrawal (Keep Account)

Stop contributing to AI research while keeping your account:

How: Toggle off "AI Research Participation" in Settings
Effect: Future data won't be used for AI training, account and thoughts remain intact
Your Content: All your thoughts, categories, and app data stay exactly as they are
Past Data: Previously anonymized research data remains (see Complete Erasure to remove this too)
Reversible: You can opt back into AI research anytime

8.2 Standard Account Deletion (In-App)

Available through the app settings menu:

Immediate Personal Data Removal: Your account details, email, and directly identifying information are immediately deleted
AI Research Data: If you opted into AI research, anonymized insights may be retained for research purposes
No AI Research Users: If you never opted into AI research, no training data exists to retain
Anonymization Process: Only applies if you had opted into AI research - personal identifiers removed while preserving research value
Processing Time: Immediate personal data deletion, anonymization completed within 30 days

8.3 Complete Data Erasure (Email Request)

For complete removal of everything, including all AI research contributions:

Total Data Deletion: Complete removal of all personal and anonymized data, including AI training datasets
Includes: Voice recordings, transcriptions, sentiment analysis, session data, usage patterns, classification feedback, and all training data
Request Process: Email support@usesaydo.com with subject line "Complete Data Erasure Request"
Required Information: Confirm your account email address in the request
Processing Time: Maximum 30 days from receipt of verified request
Verification: We will confirm completion via email once erasure is complete

9. Data Breach Notification

12. Children's Privacy

Saydo is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

Extra Protection for Minors: Children under 13 cannot participate in AI research even if they somehow access the app. Our systems are designed to reject any AI research participation from accounts that might belong to minors.
